Martha Winslow
I have not been doing the business lately as I have been helping taking care of my momma for the last year or so. My momma had Stage 4 breast cancer that spread to her lymph nodes and lungs. She put up such a strong and courageous fight and she made it to her 69th birthday: 11-11-11. She passed on 11-21-11.
I miss her so much and my heart aches so bad, but I know she is no longer in pain and is walking the streets of gold.
I am not sure when I will get back to the business. In the meantime, I will just take life one day at a time enjoying my own family- husband and son. Life is short and precious and we must not take any day for granted.
Also, I am so proud of my sister! You were Momma's angel and always there for her no matter what. You are a true example of what real love is all about. Now Momma is your real angel watching down on you. :)

Noah's Ark Workshop on "Good Morning Texas"
I am so excited to announce that one of my local teammates, Laurie Stein (pictured with me above), will be interviewed tomorrow (Monday, March 7th) on "Good Morning Texas". Laurie Stein hosts wonderful summer camps and will tell us all about them on the show. I will be her comic relief as I will be dressed as a large stuffed monkey- Mojo Monkey- which is the company mascot (see below).
Laurie created her own idea of hosting weeklong summer workshops a few years ago. She writes the curriculum and gets the camp participants not only making new furry friends, but creating many other projects, as well as, learning about new and interesting things. She puts her education and marketing degrees to great use and I am proud to have her on my team!!
So, look for us tomorrow on LIVE television- Monday, March 7th at 9am-10am Central Standard Time on wfaa.com (Chanel 8).

Children's Party Entertainment in Flower Mound, Texas
A little about my business and my current status:
Knowing that moms are always looking for something new and different for birthday parties, my business has continued to grow and grow over the years. In addition, with not having to pay rent for an actual physical location, I have not been hit hard by the downturn in the economy. If anything, due to many birthday party locations shutting down, my business has benefited from the current economic condition. Finally, in trying to help families in this hard economic time, my parties actually offer a great "bang for their buck" because with my workshops, it is a three for one: 1) silly entertainment, 2) a hands-on activity that keeps the children engaged, and 3) the stuffed animal is the take home gift for the guests.
And now to feature my animal of the week:
This is my ORANGE DINOSAUR. I'm not really an expert on Dinosaurs, so while I believe it is a Triceratops, my name for him/her, is Orange Dino!
Orange Dino is a BIG hit with all children- boys, girls, 3 year olds to 10 year olds to adults. Orange Dino is one of my biggest animals at approximately 19 inches. Unfortunately, it is one of our retiring animals. So sad. I will miss having Orange Dino as part of my Noah's Ark family that I take to share with all the children in the DFW area.

Children's Birthday Party tips (from the view point of a child entertainer)- Noah's Ark Workshop by Regina
Inside Tips for Hosting an At-Home Children’s Birthday Party
(From the point of view of a Child Entertainer)
Have you ventured into the world of hosting your child’s birthday party in your home yet? There are those brave moms that would not have it any other way. Then, there are those moms that dread hearing these words come out of their child’s mouth, “I want my party at home this year”. Whether you are a seasoned at-home party giver or contemplating the idea for the first time, here are a few tidbits to help make this brave journey into at-home birthday party hosting a little easier.
First, having planned activities literally every minute is a must. Hiring a child entertainer will be a big help in this task and will allow you to relax for a bit. However, you will still have the time to kill while the children/parents are arriving, and the time at the end of the party while you are waiting for things to wrap up.
As a seasoned child entertainer, I have seen many different avenues of keeping the children busy and entertained in the lag times. While allowing the children to just play in your child’s room or playroom is the easiest, it is also the avenue that will create the most mess and possible fighting and tears. Depending on the age of the children, at the start of the party, I suggest a coloring activity or some sort of easy arts-n-crafts (stickers are always a great and easy arts-n-crafts). There are also easy games like Simon Says or Pin the Tail to keep them entertained (this will need to be someone other than you leading the games, though, as you will be meeting and greeting your guests).
Once all of your guests have arrived, my suggestion is to proceed with your child entertainer. Please keep in mind that most child entertainers will give you a set start time and will not have extra time to wait for your guests. With that being said, if you have friends/family that perpetually run 30 minutes late, it may be a good idea to 1) let them know that the entertainment will start at such-n-such time, and 2) set your entertainers start time approximately 20-30 minutes after your official start time that you sent out on your invitations.
To keep your party running smoothly, you will need to be on the watch out for a few things (please excuse some of my bluntness).
1) Keep any “wild-children” calm. This could mean asking one or both of the parents to sit with their children (especially if they are younger). You can also remind the children that the party is about the birthday child today and that you are requesting everyone to use their manners today to help make it a super special day. Your entertainer may or may not help out with the “discipline” part of your party, so do not be afraid to step in and help.
In addition, alerting your child entertainer to any “issues” ahead of time will help.
2) During your entertainers “show”, helping keep the adults’ voices down so that the children can hear the entertainer will help things running smoothly for your entertainer.
3) Keep tabs on the temperature in your room. Many people will create lots of heat. Ceiling fans and/or setting a cooler temperature than normal is a big help in keeping everyone comfortable.
Finally, organization is a key point in the success of an at-home party. Your entertainment area should be separate from your cake/eating area (especially if you do not want food/drink in other parts of your home). It is best to have your party table set up with decorations, plates, napkins, etc… ahead of time. Also, have your area where the entertainer will be “entertaining” all cleared and ready to go. Your entertainer will need their own time to get their stuff ready, so it will help if they can come in and get started without having to help move furniture and such.
Once the children are done with the entertainment part of the party, you will need to move them on to the table to prepare for the eating part of your party. As a reminder, children eat much faster than adults do and you will need to keep the eating time short and sweet. As a fellow mom, you may also wish to have handy wipes or sanitizer available for hands, as well, for both before and after eating. In addition, do not be afraid to ask your guests to keep all food and drink at the table. You are being a brave soul in hosting the party in your home, it is okay to have some house rules and set expectations.
Now, to open gifts or not? In all of my experience over the years, it is almost a perfect 50/50 split between opening gifts at the party and waiting to open them later. IF you do plan on opening the gifts at the party, it is best to open the presents at the entertainment area and to have the following ready: 1) pen/paper and a person to help you with writing the gift receiving list, and 2) a special area for the birthday child to sit while the other children sit a bit away from the birthday child. And it is okay to re-remind your guests to keep food and drink in the kitchen area.
If you are not going to have your child open presents at the party, then having one or two more games and/or activities for the children while your party is winding down is highly suggested. When you do not open presents at a party, it is hard for your guests to know that the party is over, therefore, you may want to say something like this, “And now, for the last event of the party, we will have one last game”. Remember, you are the host and your guests are looking to you for “direction”.
Finally, the ending to your party… you will have both the kids that need to leave early and the kids that will stay after the designated time as you wait for parents to pick up their children (if it was a drop off party). Therefore, it is best to have the goody bags already packed up and in a designated area close to the exit. If you are able to put your guests’ names on their goody bags, that will help alleviate any confusion. In the case of my clients, their goody bag is the take-home bag that I supply with their new stuffed animal friend that they made at the party. I personally place (as part of my service that I provide) all of the children’s names on the outside of their bags and have them all packed up and waiting near the exit. You can also discuss ahead of time with your child how to thank everyone for coming and how you plan to say your goodbyes (at the door or back in the entertainment area; handing guests their take home bags or having them grab their own; etc…)
In the end, remember to relax and enjoy the party. Your child will cherish their time with their friends and family. The more planning and preparation you can do ahead of time, the better the party will flow.

Build-a-Bear type parties in Dallas, Texas- NEW STUFFED ANIMALS ARE COMING!
Hello and Happy New Year to everyone! It's been a crazy few months. For those that believe in the power of prayer, my mom has recently been diagnosed with very aggressive breast cancer that has spread and she/we would appreciated any and all prayer.
On the business side of life, there have been many new announcements lately. I will let the pictures speak for themselves:

Keeping Priorities a Priority
I know what needs to be done, but yet I find myself at times doing the "busy" things instead of the "important" things. I once had a mentor tell me that the one thing that keeps most people from succeeding in life is their lack of priorities.
So what should one's priorities be, especially if you are a Work at Home Mom? Your kids, your husband, your business, the house, the laundry, the bills, the groceries (need I go on)? It seems like it ALL needs to be done; they are all a priority! Agh. It's a never ending cycle. You know what I mean- it's when you walk into a room and forget why you went in there because on the way there, you saw the pile of laundry that needs to be folded, your children asked you to come and play, and you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and were a bit frightened by what you saw.
I have decided that it has to come down to making a list of my priorities and then sticking to them- in short, keeping my priorities a priority. In the making of my list, I have even created levels of priorities. The "needs to be done everyday"; the "needs to be done a few times a week"; and the "needs to be done a few times a month". As I go along my day, I mentally check my task at hand and make sure it is a priority for that day. My house may not get cleaned everyday, but my children, my husband, and my business are now getting my attention without my feeling like I should be doing something else. It has given me the freedom from guilt. The laundry may not get folded immediately when the buzzer sounds, but I know that I have chosen to make other things at this time in my life a priority. Unlike my children who will not stop growing, the kitchen floor will wait patiently to be cleaned.

I've always loved what used to be called when I was in school, "Creative Writing". It's where you just write. You don't worry about who your audience is, what you should write about, or even if you are using "correct grammar".
Here are a few of my latest articles I have written. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
Middle Aged- Who? Me?
I'm turning 45 in less than a month. I need bifocals; my chest is down to my knees; my hair is mostly salt now (although I add the "pepper" back in every 4 weeks); I leak when I laugh; and my dress size seems to think it should go up every year along with my age.
I went to the grocery store the other day and was overlooked in line as the next customer by the deli man who only had eyes for the young thing behind me. So, now being middle aged means being invisible, too?
I had to purchase a key rack for the first time ever as I have grown tired of searching for my keys time and time again. It used to be I had the memory of an elephant, now I just have the legs of an elephant.
I also enjoy looking at the tabloids now because I cut out and paste the pictures of the cellulite bottomed movie stars on my bathroom mirror. Partly as a reminder to me that even the rich and famous are not perfect, but also for my hubby to see what movies stars really look like.

So this is what 40 and fabulous is all about? Hmmm, I wish my outsides could match how I feel and think on the inside now. Isn't it funny- when we are young and foolish and not too sure about who we are, what we want, or where our life is going, we look great on the outside AND THEN when we start to figure it all out and know a few things and are much wiser, our body decides to be foolish? Here are a few of my latest articles I have written. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
Middle Aged- Who? Me?
I'm turning 45 in less than a month. I need bifocals; my chest is down to my knees; my hair is mostly salt now (although I add the "pepper" back in every 4 weeks); I leak when I laugh; and my dress size seems to think it should go up every year along with my age.
I went to the grocery store the other day and was overlooked in line as the next customer by the deli man who only had eyes for the young thing behind me. So, now being middle aged means being invisible, too?
I had to purchase a key rack for the first time ever as I have grown tired of searching for my keys time and time again. It used to be I had the memory of an elephant, now I just have the legs of an elephant.
I also enjoy looking at the tabloids now because I cut out and paste the pictures of the cellulite bottomed movie stars on my bathroom mirror. Partly as a reminder to me that even the rich and famous are not perfect, but also for my hubby to see what movies stars really look like.

Child Entertainment in DFW- Summer 2010
Baseball, baseball, baseball. That has been my Spring. Business is going well, but as team mom for my son's Coach Pitch Spring Baseball Team, all my free time has been devoted to all the many things that go along with Little League Baseball. Who knew there was so much to Little League Baseball????

Happy the Hippo is our special 2010 Summer Animal!
Happy the Hippo will be available starting June 7th and is only available while supplies last (hopefully through the end of August). Happy will be part of my $16 Birthday Party Package- or just $12 for groups of 25 or more. He is 15 inches tall and has a super soft crushed velvet appearance/feel.
TWO NEW BEARS COMING TO OUR REGULAR PRODUCT LINE…
Coming this summer, the Noah’s Ark corporate offices will be retiring Dili Bear and Buttercookie Bear and replacing them with two new adorable bears- Milk and Honey!
These are sure to sweeten up any birthday party! They will be approximately 13-14 inches tall and will be here by early July.
They will be part of my $16 Birthday Party Package.
A NEW PUPPY ALSO COMING TO OUR REGULAR PRODUCT LINE…
I am most excited about our new, ADORABLE puppy coming out this Fall. I know boys and girls of all ages will be so excited to make their very own Paka Pup! I will be stocking up on this cute Pup as soon as it comes in! This Pup will be 13-14 inches tall and will also be part of my $16 Birthday Party Package.
NEW 2010 FALL AND WINTER PRODUCTS!
And finally, we will have new animals made just for Fall and Winter! Our Fall Bear will be OctoBear. He will have black fur with a bright orange bowtie (optional). The Winter Bear will be a white and ice blue bear called Snow Bear. They will each be 13-14 inches tall.
These adorable bears will only be available for a limited time (while supplies last) and will be part of my $16 Birthday Party Package- or just $12 for groups of 25 or more.

Childcare Entertainer in the Dallas and Ft. Worth Metroplex
Pollen counts are ridiculously high; taxes are due this week; baseball season has started- YEP- Spring has sprung!

I'm gearing up for my 6th Summer of conducting Noah's Ark Animal Workshops! I can't believe it has been six years already. It's still the best job in the world!! I set my work schedule; I am always greeted with excitement and joy when I "arrive" at work; and now that my son is older, my assistant is my own child (it's a great teaching avenue)!
My summers are all about conducting workshops in the Childcare industry! My workshops are a great "In-House" Field trip for daycares, preschools, and summer camps! I call my workshops the "NO Worries" activity for any and all Childcare Centers!

*A SPECIAL activity for ALL your children-
From Toddlers to Schoolers!

Child Birthday Party Entertainment in DFW- Noah's Ark Workshop by Regina

It's been a COLD Winter here in North Texas. It's been good for business, though, as people are wanting INDOOR activities/entertainment for their children's parties.
This weekend finds me getting ready for 3 workshops. I'm almost all packed, but I'm not looking forward to packing my car in this cold, dreary weather. Luckily, it's just a few suitcases and some bags of stuffing. :)
Our corporate offices have been busy these last few weeks. They have announced our new summer animal- and, in my opinion, it is VERY CUTE!

Hello and Happy and Blessed New Year!!
It's already January 22nd!! Hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start!
I took off about 2 weeks for the Holidays, but started back doing birthday party workshops last weekend. And am back at it full speed! This weekend I have three birthday party workshops- all for 3-5 year olds. Should be a very energetic weekend! :)

Noah's Ark Workshop in Dallas, Texas is going strong!
Hello all!
I can't believe it has been almost two months since last blogging. Hope this finds everyone well and ready for the up-n-coming Holidays! Christmas is in the air here in the Dallas, Texas area as we had SNOW this morning. Yes!! Snow! Big, beautiful flakes, not that yucky ice stuff that we normally get and try to call snow. :)
There have been some BIG things happening with Noah's Ark Workshop recently! Of course, we have our adorable new Holiday animals. Gingerbread and the NEW Teddy Reindeer. Both have been a huge hit so far. I still have 5 more large events and 4 smaller events before Christmas. It's going to be a busy next few weeks. Luckily, I am all done with my home decorations and almost done with all my Christmas shopping (I'm an internet shopper and I take advantage of all the free shipping deals for early shoppers)! Woo-hoo!
ALSO, Noah's Ark Workshop has added a totally NEW product line- make your own jewelry. It is for the adult customers and the jewelry is beautiful! You can create your own beaded and charm bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces!
I will let the pictures do the rest of the "talking" for me. As always, if you have questions or would like to purchase products or book a workshop, please contact me via e-mail or phone anytime.
